The Secret? Don't try a Vision Board

I'm so disillusioned.

I was so sure I'd win, I had the boyfriend bring up the moving boxes from the storage locker. I told G and her husband that they should think about giving notice as they could move into the garden suite -- rent free. I told my mom that she'd have a nice in-law suite to stay in when she came to visit in April. The Millionaire Designer Lottery Home was mine. I felt it in my soul.

My friend Gord told me about vision boards a while back, and while I'm not a follower of The Secret and the whole Law of Attraction thing, I thought it couldn't hurt to try. I made up a board with the beautiful images of the Lottery Dream House, and sprinkled it positive thoughts. I then taped it to the inside of our front door so that we would look at it everytime we went out (or to the toilet for that matter, as the front door is right beside the bathroom). I had the boyfriend saying positive affirmations every day, and I spoke of the house as ours. I believed in the vision. I believed we would win.

The draw was yesterday. Someone in Abbotsford won. Abbotsford! Not me! How is that possible? Look at that vision board. How could the Laws of Attraction fail to be attracted to that? Disappointment and disbelief follow me around today. The moving boxes are going back into storage.

Sit Stay Down

Well, I've come up with a doggie blog called Sit Stay Down. I've just brought it home. It's already peed on the floor and it's currently chasing its tail, but over the weekend I hope to start some serious training.

My Calgary friends, Parm and Mike (whom you have met here) are hoping your experience and comments will help them find the next member of their family. So please come over and say hi. Let your selves in -- the door is open. Just watch for puddles.

XO

My Kind of Exercise

It's called Sleep Yoga. Yup -- Sleep Yoga. Supposed to calm those nighttime tossings and turnings that end with you staring at the clock, watching the minutes tick by.

“It’s like foreplay before bed to set the mood before sleep,” says Dee Dussault, a yoga instructor. Seriously? Foreplay? Please don't let the boyfriend know about this. I can hear it now. "Lianne, do that yoga thingy and holler when you're ready. I'll be out here, watching the game."

I blogged a while back about Ambien CR as a means to catching some zees, but the side effects didn't seem worth the risk. What othere options were out there besides warm milk? Well, now we know.

Yoga has many health and fitness benefits. It calms, it strengthens, it stretches. Doing it on my back in bed seems like a dream come true. I'm thinking of adding Sleep Boot Camp and Sleep Spinning. And cancelling the gym membership.

Time for a Snack

I just had an email from a friend saying:

I went to your kitchen table, only leftovers…

I’ve been fasting since Christmas it seems. Haven’t been to the kitchen table, and have no good excuse. I’ve been caught up in the Christmas and post-Christmas blues, in the New Year’s making and breaking of resolutions, in the pre-Olympic frowning and the post-horrors in Haiti. I just haven’t had anything to say.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about the content of my blog and if wondering if I wanted to take it in a new direction. I’ve been mulling over various ideas and haven’t come up with anything firm yet, but feel a couple of ripples working their way closer to shore. This may mean a spin-off blog – I’ll keep you posted.

I now find my self on the back-side of January. I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on all the blogs I love (and miss). I promise to do better in February.
