I can't sleep, I can't eat, I can't think.
We seem to be in the midst of a heat wave in Vancouver -- some say it hasn't been this hot this long since the 1920s. We hit 34C(94F) yesterday and with the humidity it felt like 39C(103F). Right now, at noon, it is 31C but feels like 37C. We Vancouverites can't handle this. We don't have air conditioning as it NEVER gets this hot. We are like Goldilocks when it comes to our weather. We like it somewhere in the middle. The winter's are never too cold nor have too much snow (some years, none at all) and the summers are warm enought to spend time at the beach and the evenings cool off enough that you need a light sweater. This make sleeping easy.
After one week of heat we are all getting grumpy.

What I wouldn't give for a nice coastal breeze. Even down on our beaches the air is still. I saw that it was 112F in Seattle yesterday. Global warming? El Nino? Whatever it is, it's unbearable.

Oddly, we seem to be having an early autumn over here. We've had lots of rain all through July - it's all anyone talks about: 'Where's summer gone?'

I had a friend, who on meeting a new guy and the new guy, says he will call her at seven o'clock, on a particular evening - She would give him until five past the hour, then pull the plug on the phone. Honestly. This gal took no nonsense from men ...
It used to annoy me cos I was never able to get through to her as her phone alway seemed to be switched off.
That's what I loved about Vancouver when I was there in '91. It never got too hot or too cold. I could lay out on the beach until 10 at night without needing a sweater. Heaven.

Well, things have finally cooled down. And there is a nice breeze. Very weird about the weather around the world. My mom lives in Ontario and it is cool and rainy there. I heard about Texas's drought on the news last night too. Very sad about the crops and cattle.
